Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is just the beginning of a lifetime of adventure. Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving Catalina Island, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a PADI certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. You can try scuba diving while you’re on Catalina Island at Avalon City Underwater Dive Park. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. The entire experience is 2 hours long. It consists of a knowledge development segment, confined open water segments, and open water dive. All segments of the experience are conducted at the Avalon City Underwater Dive Park. Dive time varies based on the individual. To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 12 years old. 10 and 11 year olds are allowed in a private setting. Please call to book. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health. Are you ready to try it out? Catalina Island is a world-class scuba diving destination, and scuba divers from all over the world travel here to explore and photograph the numerous species of marine life found in the Casino Point Underwater Park. Catalina's giant kelp forests are ranked as one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world! The Casino Point Underwater Dive Park is a protected Marine Reserve located in beautiful Avalon, just minutes from the Catalina Express. In the Marine Reserve it is unlawful to fish or remove anything (other than trash), which makes it great for observing marine life. Catalina Scuba dives Casino Point on a daily basis, and we greatly enjoy showing off our beautiful kelp forrest, majestic Giant Black Sea Bass, the California state fish the Garibaldi, Kelp Bass, Sheep head, Bat Rays, Morey Eels, various Nudibranchs, Yellow Tail, as well as Sea Stars, Sea Hares, and the occasional playful Sea Lion, Harbor Seal, Leopard Shark and Horn Sharks.

During your refresher scuba dive you will review scuba diving concepts, equipment, and certain skills with a PADI Professional. It’s quick and easy, and a good way to prepare for your next PADI course or get ready for a dive vacation. Our expert staff will take you through the basics, and help you work on your buoyancy along the way. We recommend taking a refresher dive if you've haven't dove in at least 1 year.
